The Hon. Jorge Lapsenson – Dean of the Los Angeles Consular Corps and the Executive Committee cordially invite all members of the Corps, Trade /Tourism Commissioners to attend our May Monthly luncheon.
Note: Newly arrived Chef de Posts and accredited staff will be welcomed and introduced. Departing Chef de Posts will be recognized.
The LACC welcomes and encourages the participation of spouses and family; as are accredited designees and staff, trade/tourism commissioners, and Protocol and Liaison officers.

Gene Axlerod
Gene Axelrod is Chairman of Knight Corporation whose interests include ownership of the Beverly Hills Country Club and the Calabasas Country Club. He is a Member of Congressional Country Club and the World Presidents Organization.
The stated goal of the Clubs is to have them be "THE BEST FOR THE BEST". Their purpose is to provide the members with excellence in meeting their Social, Dining, Health, Tennis and Golf needs.
In order to expand the Clubs’ international presence, the Consuls General in Los Angeles have been awarded Honorary Memberships. Further, the Clubs have reciprocal agreements with twenty-two clubs outside of the USA . The Clubs have extended community support for many and various organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes and Make-A-Wish Foundations. The Clubs are always looking for ways to expand their charitable involvement.
Mr. Axelrod was born in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Purdue University with an Engineering Degree. He now resides in Los Angeles, California.
Spencer K. Koerner, MD
Spencer K. Koerner, MD, is Medical Director of Center for International Health and Telemedicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after having served as Medical Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from 1977 to 1996. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases. He is also a professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
While serving as Director of Pulmonary Medicine, Dr. Koerner's research focused on lung transplantation, acute respiratory distress syndrome and primary pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Koerner has written many articles for such peer-reviewed publications as the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Clinical Research, New England Journal of Medicine and American Review of Respiratory Disease. Dr. Koerner is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Thoracic Society, American College of Physicians and American College of Chest Physicians. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association and the American Lung Association of California. He is a former Chairman of the Board of the American Lung Association of California and the Los Angeles Affiliate. He is also a former President of the California Thoracic Society and the Association of Pulmonary/Critical Care Program Directors. In addition, he chaired the American Lung Association Research Program for five years.
Dr. Koerner received his bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He did an internship, residency and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York.
